Hey! If you haven’t been keeping up with Discord news or aren’t in on the beta, here’s what’s been going on with the latest update.

My original plan was to rewrite older content, make all rooms point and click and to do some much needed QoL. This would’ve been done by the end of summer, except I was also toying with the idea of making some of the events feel more like a conversation than just reading a book.

So, naturally, I ended up making an entire dialogue system that remembers every choice and influences future dialogue and decided to implement it across the entire. Yeah... I went a little nuts, but man has it changed the experience! Check out the video! 

A Better Place feels like an actual game now and it gives way more flexibility for adding background information, character development and any fun interaction I come up with without trying to force it into the main story. It gives each girl so much more depth! This is what I wanted since the beginning, but I didn’t know enough about coding to make it real – until now.

When can we play it?

There’s a Patron-only beta going on right now. If you support me at the Newcomer tier ($5), you get to be part of it! I’m slowly revising and adding all the content back in with an update roughly each month. You can help find bugs, writing mistakes and also give feedback and suggestions on what I can improve!

For the public release, you’ll have to wait until everything’s been added in and thoroughly tested. Why? Right now the game is in a weird hybrid state of new and old that’s quite messy. I don’t want it get out too soon and end up slammed with criticism again. So, if you do jump in on the beta, make sure to keep it all in-house until I finalize the public release.

For the past year I’ve been hovering between 20 and 30 supporters, which isn’t enough to keep this project up long term and I do have big plans for it. This rewrite is my chance to make it stand out and hopefully draw in a larger audience. I’ll make a trailer, advertise it on reddit and if anyone has other suggestions they’d be much appreciated!

A big thank you to everyone who’s stuck around so far! I’m sure you care about the characters and their story as much as I do and want this to become much more than just another “hold-for-sex-scene” experience. The ideas are there and now the framework too. We just need to reach more people!
